- EUROPEAN NYMPHING -

Leland is extremely blessed that he was able to learn how to Euro-nymph from one of the Rolling Stones of the Fly Fishing Industry, Jason Lieverst. Jason is a famous, and sought out, competitive fly tier and the owner of Master Nymph. His company produces the highest quality, and most effective, competition inspired nymphs on the market. Scott Willoughby in Colorado Outdoors Magazine, the May 2016 issue, recently referred to Jason as “The Wizard of European Nymphing”. In the fall of 2015 Jason moved to Leland’s hometown of Franklin, N.C. where he was able to learn from Jason how to tie effective nymph patterns and the different facets of this style of fly-fishing.

One reason why Leland really enjoys Euro-nymphing is it allows the anglers to detect the subtlest of strikes; maintaining line control and contact with your flies is crucial in determining the difference between the bottom of the river and those finicky striking trout in highly pressured areas.  The combination of quick sinking flies, thin tippet, and a long limber fly rod have allowed Leland to extract trout of water that he once thought was unfishable. European Nymphing does have its limitations, but when fishing correctly it is deadly and the results speak for themselves.
